Ease-of-care: Easy
Larkspur look identical to perennial delphiniums. They have tall beautiful spikes with petaled flowers. They come in a variety of shades of blue, purples, lilac, white, rose and pink.
These tall spikes make excellent cutflowers. They are long lasting and look very elegant in arrangements.
The seeds germinate reliably under the correct conditions and will mature to a height of 1 to 4 feet in just a few months.
Pick a spot with full sunlight or partial shade. Most people grow it along a fence, use it for borders, or plant it in drifts. The soil should be average to rich and also well-draining. If you live in a colder area, you can plant in early spring; otherwise it is best to plant in the fall, usually October or November. Since seedlings don’t transplant well it is best to sow the seeds directly in the ground.
