Planting and growing

  • Hibiscus needs full sun to partial shade to bloom.
  • These plants cannot survive heat above 85 F and can be killed if the temperature dips below 50 F. 
  • Consider taking the plant inside when the temperature is chilly.
  • You can also choose to grow this plant in containers. 
  • Hibiscus is a thirsty plant that thrives and blooms only if it is watered adequately. 
  • Reduce the frequency of watering during winters.
  • Feed the soil with a diluted fish emulsion fertilizer to bloom vigorously.

  • Water stagnation must be avoided in all cases.
  • Make sure the roots of the plant are damp but not too wet.
  • Knock off the old soil from the plant root by removing all rotted and dead roots feet
  • Prune your plant at least once each season to maintain a healthy look and to stimulate blooming.
  • While planting hibiscus, make sure to dig a hole as deep as the root ball and 2 to 3 times wider.
