Plant Description

Hibiscus(Peach Double) which is scientifically known as Hibiscus rosa-sinensis is a species that belongs to the family of Malvaceae. This flower is native to the areas with warm temperature and regions of subtropical and tropical areas. They are also known as rose mallow. The leaves of this plant are alternate and sometimes have toothed or lobed margin. Flowers are large and have five or more than five petals. They are available in many colors some of which are white, pink, red, peach, etc. It is national flower of the place which is known as Haiti. This flower is used for medicines, foods, making tea, and is of much importance. It is also used for making paper.

  • Instruction for planting:

     

  • First of all choose the type of hibiscus plant you want to grow.
  • You can grow the hibiscus from seed, by transplant or by cutting.
  • It should not be planted in winter seasons as hibiscus plants are heat lovers.
  • The temperature should be between 60–70 °F (16–21 °C).
  • Choose a location where plant can get 4-6 hours of direct sunlight.
  • 2-3 feets distance should be maintained between hibiscus plants.
  • Dig the hole and then place the plant in the hole without damaging the root ball. After putting the plant refill the hole with soil up to the base.
  • Instruction for care:

     

  • Don’t cover up the stems with soil as it will kill the plant.
  • Keep hibiscus plant moist but not wet.
  • In winter only water the plant when soil dries out.
  • Hibiscus plants needs lots of nutrients to bloom well but excess of fertilizers will damage the plant.
  • Put mulch and garden waste to the plant to provide more nutrients.
  • It can’t survive frost or much cold conditions.
  • Plants should be watered daily and if there is more heat than they can be watered twice a day.
